Several hundred rickshaw pullers and owners blocked the road from Mugda to Maniknagar demanding to withdraw the ban on rickshaws in three routes on Monday.
They started their programme at 7 am and took their position in different areas including Mugdha, Maniknagar and Manda.
They are chanting slogans and urged the government to withdraw the ban on rickshaws in three routes.
Nazrul Islam, Deputy Inspector of Mugdha police Station, said, the road from Mugdha to Maniknagar was blocked by the rickshaw pullers and owners.
Earlier on Wednesday, Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sayeed Khokon announced that three roads of the capital will be made off-limits to rickshaws from July 7.
The roads are Kuril to Sayedabad via Rampura and Khilgaon, Gabtoli to Azimpur via Asad Gate, and Science Laboratory intersection to Shahbagh intersection.
