A traffic police officer was killed as a bus hit him in the capital’s Jatrabari in the wee hours of Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Md Khairul, 30, Assistant Sub Inspector of traffic police.
Muhammad Kamruzzaman, Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (traffic east division), said a bus hit Khairul while he was crossing the road in the area around 2 pm.
He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead. The body was kept at the hospital for autopsy.
Police are trying to arrest the driver of the bus, he added.
