73 companies destroy expired drugs

A total of 73 companies are destroying the expired drugs colecting from the pharmacies across the country including Dhaka following the direction of the High Court. 

The companies informed the matter to the directorate general of drug administration. 

The drug administration also extended the time till July 10 as the companies sought more time to destroy the expired drugs after collecting those from the pharmacies.  

Earlier on 18 June, The HC directed the government to remove all the date-expired drugs from the pharmacies across the country and destroy those in a month.

The court directed the authorities concerned of the government to submit a report before it after complying with the order by July 16.

According to the reports, Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection has found date-expired medicines in 93 percent of the pharmacies in the capital where it conducted drives over six months.
