The Dhaka City Corporation authorities today fixed the price of beef at Taka 525 and mutton at Taka 750 per kg during the holy Ramadan.
The price was fixed at a meeting between officials of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and the meat traders at DSCC office, reports BSS.
The meeting also fixed the price of one kilogram of Indian beef at Taka 500, buffalo at Taka 480 and lamb at Taka 650.
The price will be effective from the first day of Ramadan and continue till the 26th day, said DSCC Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon, adding that if any meat trader violates the rule, punitive action will be taken against him.
“The commodity price will not soar anyhow this year compared to the last year’s price, it will rather decline,” said the Mayor. “We held a meeting with hotel/restaurant owners and told them to keep hygienic food during the Ramadan,” the Mayor said.
A DSCC monitoring team will begin drive from tomorrow to oversee the price of the essentials, he said.
