‘Democracy, constitution at stake’ in Brazil: Rousseff

Brazil’s suspended President Dilma Rousseff said Thursday that democracy and the constitution are at stake after she was forced to face an impeachment trial in the Senate and cede power to vice president Michel Temer.‘What is at stake is respect for the ballot box, the sovereign will of the Brazilian people and the constitution,’ said the leftist leader, who has been sidelined less than two years after winning re-election, for allegedly manipulating the government’s accounts.Source: AFP
