Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made a courtesy call on President M Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban this evening.
“The Prime Minister discussed different state-level issues, specially her recent Brunei visit, with the President,” Principal Information Officer (PIO) M Joynal Abedin told BSS.
The head of the government apprised the President of the outcome of her recent three-day visit to Brunei, he said, reports BSS.
The Premier returned home from Brunei on Tuesday morning, ending her three day official visit at the invitation of Brunei’s Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah.
The head of the state was informed that during her (Hasina) stay, Bangladesh and Brunei signed seven instruments to strengthen cooperation, mainly in the fields of agriculture, fisheries, livestock, culture and sports, and supply of LNG.
The Premier also held a series of meetings with the leaders of Bangladesh business community, Brunei business community, and Brunei National Chamber of Commerce and Industry during her visit to Brunei.
Sheikh Hasina also laid the foundation stone of a new chancery building of Bangladesh High Commission at the diplomatic enclave in Jalan Kebangsaan.
Referring to PM’s visit, President Abdul Hamid hoped that it would help strengthen further bilateral trade and investment ties between the two countries.
They enquired each other about their health during the meeting.
The PM reached the Bangabhaban at 6:23 pm. On her arrival, the Prime Minister was received by President Abdul Hamid with a bouquet. The Prime Minister also presented a bouquet to the President.
Secretaries concerned and high officials of both the President and Prime Minister’s offices were present.
