A Chapainawabganj court has sentenced five people to death and acquitted three others in a case filed for murder of a girl after rape.
Judge Showkot Ali of Chapainawabganj Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 passed the order in presence of them on Thursday noon.
The court also fined Tk 1 lakh each of them.
The death-row convicts are Nayan Kumar Robi Das, 28, Prashanta Robi Das, 22, Nitai Chandra Robi, 26, Subhas Das, 42 and Prashanta Robi Das, 24.
The people who acquittal from the case are Sri Krishna, 23, son of Anil Shil, Abdur Rahim, 35, son of Atabur and Sohagi Begum, 27, wife of Ashraful Islam.
According to the case statement, police recovered the body of Ayesha Khatun, 20, daughter of Mofijul Islam, from a ditch in sadar upazila on June 14 in 2015. She was murdered after rape, according to an autopsy report. Later sadar thana Sub Inspector Shamim Akter filed a case against unnamed people on August 15.
