The officer-in-charge (OC) of Sonagazi Model Police Station in Feni has been withdrawn over the arson attack on a madrasa student after victim’s family members alleged that they are not getting proper cooperation from the police officer.
The decision of withdrawal was taken on Wednesday morning, said Md Sohel Rana, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of police.
Now, the case has been handed over to the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), the AIG said.
However, a Feni court today placed three people on remand including the main suspect of the case.
Among the three accused, Maulana Siraj Ud Doula, principal of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa and also the main suspect in the case, was placed on a seven-day remand whereas the two others - Afsar Uddin, lecturer of English department of the madrasa and Alim examinee Ariful Islam - were placed on five-day remand each.
Police had arrested Afsar and Arif in connection with the case on Monday.
Nusrat Jahan Rafi, 18, a madrasa student, was set on fire on April 6 allegedly for refusing to withdraw a case filed against Maulana Siraj Ud Doula, principal of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa for sexually harassing her late last month.
