24 cabinet decisions implemented in first quarter

As many as 24 decisions out of a total of 36 taken in the cabinet in the first quarter (January 7 to March 31) of the current year were implemented by the new government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

A report to this end was placed at the regular cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Dhaka today with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair, reports BSS.

Briefing reporters at Bangladesh Secretariat after the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam said the rate of implementation of the cabinet decisions in the last three months is 66.67 percent.

According to the report, he said, the cabinet held five meetings from January 7 till March 31 and took some 36 decisions.

” Of the decisions, 24 have been executed, while 12 are under implementation,” he said.

On the other hand, some 63 decisions were taken in seven meetings of the cabinet during the same period in 2018, Alam said.

“Of the decisions, 43 were executed and 20 were under implementation, he said, adding the rate of execution of the decisions was 68.25 percent.

Besides, two policies and one agreement/ memorandum of understanding (MoU) were also implemented during the first quarter of the current year, he added.

The cabinet secretary said on the other hand, three policies and four deals/MoUs were executed during the first quarter in 2018.

He said five bills were passed by parliament during the first quarter of the present year, while the number was 15 during the same period in 2018.

Alam said the cabinet was also apprised of the visit of the industries minister to Thailand from March 4-6 this year.
