A Dhaka court has placed the owner of Suprabhat Paribahan Nani Gopal on a three-day remand in a case filed over the death of a student of Bangladesh University of Professionals in a road accident.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Baki Billah on Friday afternoon granted the remand after the investigation office of the case and also the DB police Inspector Kazi Shariful Islam produced him before the court and prayed three-day remand.
Earlier on Thursday evening, Gopal was arrested by the DB police from the capital’s Mugdha.
On March 19, Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury, son of retired brigadier general Arif Ahmed Chowdhury of Bashundhara area and an honours first year student of international relations at BUP, was killed on the spot after Suprabhat Paribahan bus hit him while crossing the Pragati Swarani.
Later Abrar’s father filed a case with Gulshan Police Station against the owner, driver, conductor and helper of the bus.
