Twenty people including four members of police were injured in a clash between workers of state-owned jute mills and police in Khulna on Thursday.
Agitated workers vandalized a police box at Daulatpur Natun Rasta intersection.
The tense situation was prevailing in the area.
According to the source, the workers took position on Natun Rasta from the morning and halted vehicular movement as part of their 72-hour strike to press home their demands including implementation of the wage commission.
At one stage, they locked into a clash with police and vandalized a police box. At that time 16 workers and 4 police members were injured.
The workers resumed protests from March 31 and announced 72-hour strike as their demands were not fulfilled by the government within their stipulated time.
They announced to block roads and rail routes from 8am-12pm for three consecutive days.
On Tuesday night, the jute mill leaders announced to continue their agitation as their demands are not met.
