The transmission of all television channels of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited owned by Essel Group of India has been suspended across Bangladesh.
The telecast of the channels was suspended on Monday after the Ministry of Information sent a show cause notice to two cable operators - Nation Wide Media Limited and Jadoo Vision Limited.
The operators have been asked to give a report regarding the matter within seven days, according to the ministry.
“We received a letter from the Ministry of Information. All channels related to Zee Network have been temporarily suspended,” said the Customer Service Officer of Jadoo Vision Limited Shamima Mitu.
Firoz Khan, Assistant Secretary to Information Minister, said: “We did not ask the cable operators to block the channels. We asked them about Bangladeshi advertisements broadcast on those channels.”
