Gulshan fire: 5-member probe body formed

The Fire Service and Civil Defence has formed a five-member body to investigate the fire that broke out at the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) kitchen market in Gulshan-1.

The body headed by Deputy Director of the fire service Md Shamim was asked to submit a probe report by seven days.

Major AKM Shakil Newaz, Director of the fire service (operation and maintenance), confirmed the matter while visiting the spot on Saturday.

Earlier, twenty fire units brought the flame, which started around 5:48am, under control at 8:35 am.

No casualty was reported in the fire. Fire service officials said most of the shops at the tin-shed kitchen market were gutted in the blaze.

The market was gutted by a devastating fire on 3 January in 2017, causing a part of it to collapse. No one was killed or hurt in that blaze but over 300 shops were gutted.
