PM reaches Tangail to hand over RP Saha Gold Medal

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived here this morning on a daylong visit to hand over “Danveer Ranada Prasad Saha Gold Medal” on Kumudini Complex in Mirzapur and inaugurate and lay foundation stones of 31 development projects in the district, reports BSS. 

The premier reached Kumudini Complex helipad around 11:15 am by an Air Force helicopter.

After the arrival, the prime minister was given a guard of honour by the district police.

Sheikh Hasina later inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of 31 of development projects in the district by unveiling their plaques from the Kumudini Complex.

Afterwards, the prime minister will join the “Danveer Ranada Prasad Saha Gold Medal” handing over ceremony as the chief guest on the Kumudini Complex.

Sheikh Rehana, younger daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, will be present as the special guest at the function to be organized by Kumudini Welfare Trust of Bengal (BD).

BSS Tangail correspondent said four eminent persons will be given this year’s “Danveer Ranada Prasad Saha Gold Medal” on the occasion of the completion of 86 years of the services of the Kumudini Welfare Trust.

They are legendary political leader and former Prime Minister of erstwhile Pakistan Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy (posthumous), National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam (posthumous), Nazrul expert and researcher Professor Rafiqul Islam and eminent painter Sahabuddin.

On behalf of Suhrawardy, Sheikh Rehana will receive the gold medal from the premier, while Khilkhil Kazi, a granddaughter of Poet Nazrul, will receive the medal on behalf of the National Poet.

In honour of the prime minister, the students of the Bharateswari Homes will perform colorful display and cultural function.

Sheikh Hasina will also open the 86 years celebration function of Kumudini Welfare Trust services.

Concluding her visit to Tangail, the premier will return to the capital in the afternoon.

To welcome the prime minister, Kumudini Complex has been colorfully decorated with large size portraits of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Rehana and RP Saha.
