The president of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon on Tuesday noon hugged newly elected vice president to Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) Nurul Haque Nur.
Shovon, who was a VP candidate to DUCSU elections, went to Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) and congratulated Nur for his victory and vowed to work unitedly for the university.
Later, Nur withdrew their indefinite strike which was enforced demanding re-elections to DUCSU.
Nur secured 11,062 votes while his nearest rival candidate Shovon bagged 9,129 votes in the elections.
BCL General Secretary Golam Rabbani won the post of General Secretary and Saddam Hussain Assistant General Secretary.
DU Vice-Chancellor Md Akhtaruzzaman announced the results at Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban around 3:20am on Tuesday.
Nur is a student of English department of the university and is also joint convener of Bangladesh General Students’ Rights Protection Council.
