All of the student bodies, except Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), boycotted the polls to the Dhaka University Students’ Union (DUCSU) and hall unions alleging irregularities and vote rigging on Monday noon.
The leaders of four panels - Pragatisheel Chhatra Jote, Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Adhikar Sangrakkhon Parishad, Swatantra Jote and Swadhikar Swatantra Parishad - jointly announced boycotting the polls at a press conference held at Madhur Canteen at 1 pm.
“We will observe a sit-in programme in front of the VC office today and boycott classes and examinations on Tuesday,” said DUCSU VP candidate from Pragatisheel Chhatra Jote panel Liton Nandy.
Later, DUCSU VP candidate from Chhatra Dal nominated panel Mostafizur Rahman also announced the boycotting polls at 1:30 pm and demanded re-elections reforming the election commission.
