The government on Sunday finalised names of 12 persons for ‘Independence Award -2019’ for their glorious and outstanding contributions to the nation.
Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA) has also been selected for the award for its role in using nuclear and radiation technology in agricultural research.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will accord the award at a function at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka on March 25, said a notification of the Cabinet Division today.
The recipients of the Independence Award-2019 are: Shaheed Intellectual Mofazzal Hayder Chowdhury - independence and Liberation War, Shaheed ATM Zafar Alam - independence and Liberation War, AKM Mazammel Haque - independence and Liberation War, Engineer Mosharraf Hossain - independence and Liberation War, Dr Quazi Misbahun Nahar - independence and Liberation War, Late Abdul Khalek - independence and Liberation War, Late Prof Mohammad Khaled - independence and Liberation War, Brig Gen Dr Nurunnahar Fatema Begum - medical science, Dr Quazi Khaliquzzaman Ahmad - social service, Murtaza Bashir - culture, Hassan Azizul Haque - literature, Prof Dr Hasina Khan - research and training, Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA) - science and technology.
