At least twelve people including six lawyers were injured in a lift collapse at Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court building on Thursday at 10:11 am.
The lift was installed at the court in 1980.
Eight people were identified as lawyers Soad, 35, Mithu, 35, Ayub Ali, Sultan Ahmed, 31, Shamsunnahar, Sujon, 22, a defendant, Sumon, 25, a bench clerk, and Jahangir, 50, a liftman.
On information, three units of fire service rushed to the spot and rescued the injured, said Kamrul Hasan, Duty Officer of fire service headquarters.
Of the injured, eight were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital while three to National Orthopedic Hospital, said Mohammad Ibrahim, Deputy Police Commissioner of Lalbagh Zone of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
