Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will be taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for medical checkup and tests soon.

“The jail authority has been implementing decisions of the medical board, formed as per the High Court directives,” he told to newsmen after emerging from a meeting with a BNP delegation at his secretariat office in Dhaka, reports BSS.

Kamal said the medical board, selected by the court, will provide its assessment of her, upon which she will be taken to BSMMU following the jail code.

“The government has been providing proper treatment, checkup and test facilities along with all other healthcares for Khaleda Zia,” he said.

Earlier, a six-member BNP delegation met with the home minister and discussed about BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s physical condition and treatment. The team also demanded shifting the BNP chairperson to United Hospital.

Replying to a query, the minister said, “I will talk to IG (Inspector General) prison about the medical board’s suggestions and ask him to send her to BSMMU for some checkup and tests soon following the jail code.”

The delegation, headed by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, included Standing Committee members Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Mirza Abbas, Nazrul Islam Khan, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury.
