The Director General (DG) of the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) and also the president of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) Shah Alamgir died on Thursday morning.
He breathed his last at Intensive Care Unit of Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka at 10 am.
The lecturer of PIB Lajina Jeslin confirmed the death to Jago News.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and opposition leader Hussain Muhammad Ershad expressed their deep shock at the death of Alamgir.
Alamgir obtained BA and MA in Bangla literature from the University of Dhaka. He obtained a diploma in journalism from Moscow Institute of Journalism.
He was first appointed as the Director General to the PIB in 2013. Alamgir was also reappointed to the same post in 2016.
