No air passengers to be allowed on board without photo ID: CAAB

No domestic air passengers will be allowed onboard without showing their valid photo identity card (ID), Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) said in a circular today.

The passengers will have to enclose valid passport, national ID, smart card, driving license, student ID or official ID card of the respective offices with their tickets mandatorily, said the circular.

In failing to show a valid ID card, the passengers will be denied of travailing opportunity by air, it added.

The instruction came as part of boosting security of the airports and airlines following an alleged attempt to hijack a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at Hazrat Shah Amanat International Airport here on Sunday.

Earlier, the Civil Aviation authority sent letters to all airlines instructing them to mandatorily check valid photo ID cards of the passengers before issuing boarding cards but the instruction was not followed properly.
