Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said the state mourning day will be declared after a discussion at the parliament over the horrific fire incident at Chawkbazar area in the capital.
The premier said this on Saturday morning after visiting the fire victims at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
The necessary measures will be taken as such incident don’t happen in future, she said.
The incident is very unfortunate. We provide assistance to the victims’ family immediately, the premier added.
During her visit, the premier also inquired the burnt and wounded people. She also talked to the doctors, victims and their family members.
Among others, Health Minister Doctor Jahid Malek Swapon, State Minister for Helath Doctor Murad Hasan, Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Saeed Khokon, Lawmaker Haji Md. Selim, DMCH professor Doctor Samantalal Sen, Director General of Health Directorate Doctor Abul Kalam were present.
Earlier on Wednesday night, at least 67 people were killed and hundred others injured in a deadly fire that broke out at the chemical warehouse-prone Chawkbazar area in Old Dhaka on Wednesday night.
