Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has already directed the authorities concerned to provide “humanitarian assistance and compensation” to the victims of deadly fire broke out in Old Dhaka, reports BSS.
“I’ve talked to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina about the devastating fire in Chawkbazar area. She directed the authorities concerned to provide humanitarian assistance and compensation to the fire victims and rehabilitate their families,” he told reporters after visiting the spot this morning.
Noting that necessary measures would be taken to prevent such fire incidents in the future, Quader said the government did not show any dilly- dally after the Chawkbazar fire.
The AL general secretary said the casualties in the fire have increased as there are narrow roads and many chemical godowns in the area.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, local lawmaker Hazi Md Selim and senior government officials were present.
