The distribution of nomination papers for the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and hall union polls began on Tuesday morning.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor of DU Professor Dr Muhammad Samad confirmed the distribution to Jago News.
Aspirants can collect nomination papers from their respective halls from 10 am to 4 pm everyday till February 25.
Candidates can submit nomination papers till 12 noon of February 26. The papers would be scrutinised from 2 pm on February 26 while nomination papers can be withdrawn till 1 pm of March 2.
The much awaited polls is scheduled to be held on March 11. The election will be held to 25 posts of DUCSU and 13 posts of every hall union. Election to DUCSU and hall unions will be held from 8am to 2pm without any interruption.
The final list of candidates for DUCSU and hall unions will be published on the notice board of all dormitories and university website ducsu.du.ac.bd at 4 pm on March 3.
The draft voter list will be published on February 20 while a supplementary voter list will be published on March 5 on the notice boards of the halls and the website.
DUCSU elections was held 36 times after its inception during the 1922-1923 sessions. But, the student parliament election came to a stop after the fall of HM Ershad’s dictatorship in 1990.
DUCSU was formed in 1924 after the establishment of Dhaka University in 1921, and its first vice-president was nominated in the 1924-25 academic session.
The latest DUCSU elections were held in 1990. It was the sixth election after the independence of Bangladesh.
