First phase of Biswa Ijtema ends

The two-day first phase of the Biswa Ijtema, the second largest Muslim congregation after the Hajj, ended on Saturday with the Akheri Munajat (concluding prayer).

Hafez Mawlana Mohammad Zobayer conducted the Munajat which began 10:42 am and ended to 11:07 am. 

An estimated one million devotees from home and abroad gathered to take part in the Akheri Munajat on the Turag in Tongi.

Thousands also participated in the prayer from far and wide as it was aired live on several television channels.

However, the second phase of the Ijtema will begin on Sunday at the same venue and it is scheduled to end with Akheri Munajat on Monday.

On the day of second Akheri Monajat, eight trains will be operated on Dhaka-Tongi route, eight on Tongi-Dhaka, one on Tongi-Laksham, one on Tongi-Akhaura, four on Tongi-Mymensingh and two on Tongi-Tangail routes.
