Bangladesh Awami League (AL) today submitted the list of 43 nominated women candidates for the election to the reserved seats in the eleventh parliament.
A party delegation led by AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader submitted the list to the returning officer at the Election Commission Secretariat (Nirbachan Bhaban) at Agargaon here this afternoon, reports BSS.
AL Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap and Deputy Office Secretary Biplob Barua, among others, accompanied Obaidul Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister.
The 43 AL candidates are: Anjum Sultana (Cumilla), Sultana Nadira (Barguna), Hosne Ara (Jamalpur), Rumana Ali (Gazipur), Umme Fatema Nazma Begum (Brahmanbaria), Habiba Rahman Khan Shefali (Netrakona), Sheikh Any Rahman (Pirojpur), Momota Leha Lavli (Tangail), Shamima Akter Khanam (Sunamganj), Shamsunnahar Bhuiyan (Gazipur), Fazilatun Nesa (Munshiganj), Rabeya Alim (Nilphamari), Tamanna Nusrat Bubli (Narsingdi), Nargis Rahman (Gopalganj), Manira Sultana (Mymensingh), Nahid Ijhar Khan (Dhaka), Khaleda Khanam (Jhenidah), Syeda Rubina Mira (Barishal), Wasika Ayesha Khan (Chattogram), Kazi Kaniz Sultana (Patuakhali), Advocate Gloria Jharna Sarker (Khulna), Suborna Mostafa (Dhaka), Zakia Tabassum (Dinajpur), Farida Khanom Saki (Noakhali), Bashanti Chakma (Khagrachhari), Kaniz Fatema Ahmed (Cox’s Bazar), Roshema Begum (Faridpur), Syeda Rashida Begum (Kushtia), Syeda Zohra Alauddin (Moulvibazar), Adina Anjum Mita (Rajshahi), Arma Dutta (Cumilla), Shirina Nahar (Khulna), Ferdousi Islam Jessy (Chapainawabganj), Parvin Haque Sikder (Shariatpur), Sajeda Nusrat (Rajbari), Shabna Jahan Shila (Dhaka), Khadizatul Anwar (Chattogram), Zakia Parvin Khanam (Netrakona), Tahmina Begum (Madaripur), Shirin Ahmed (Dhaka) and Zinnatul Bakia (Dhaka), Nadiya Yesmin Jolly (Pabna) and Ratna Ahmed (Natore).
Meanwhile, country’s main opposition in the parliament Jatiya Party also submitted a list of four nominees to the Election Commission on the same day. JP Secretary General Moshiur Rahman Ranga submitted the list of their party nominees.
The JP nominees are: Salma Islam, Raushan Ara Mannan, Masuda M Rashid Chowdhury and Nazma Akhter.
Meanwhile, Workers’ Party of Bangladesh submitted the name of its lone candidate Lutfunnessa Khan.
Monday was the last day of submission of the nomination papers. The polls for the women reserved seats will be held on March 4, according to the schedule.
In the 50 reserved women seats of the 11th parliament, the ruling AL will get 43 seats, Jatiya party four, BNP one, workers party one and independent candidate one.
