Awami League (AL) general secretary Obaidul Quader has said local BNP leaders want to take part in the upazila polls whatever the decision of its central body is.
“AL has such an evidence,” Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges minister, said this on Tuesday while talking to the reporters at the party president’s Dhanmondi political office.
The number of the winners were more in the first phase of the last upazila polls. Those who were winners of the last elections will leave the elections in the open field, I think it is very unlikely, said the AL leader.
Quader said BNP has no candidate in the by-polls of Dhaka North City Corporation. Though the party officially declared they didn’t contest in the polls, there are candidates for councilor posts.
About the threat of BNP’s movement, the minister said they had some issues to hold mass movement but they failed.
In a reply to a question about Oikyafront’s candidate Sulatan Mohammad Monsur, Quader said it’s of his matter whether he return to AL or nor.
