2 die taking herbal medicine in Kushtia

Two persons died and another fell sick after taking herbal medicine at Kharara area at Mirpur upazila in Kushtia on Sunday night.

The deceased were identified as Nur Mohammad, 50, son of Polan Sheikh and Shamima, 9, daughter of Nawab Ali of the area.

No case was filed in this incident. 

Locals said that Nur went to the house of Nawab at night to watch television. Nawab gave him an herbal medicine ‘Mary Gold’ of ‘Nabin Laboratory’ as he was suffering from cough.

Nawab and his daughter Shamima also took the same medicine for cough.

Shamima fell sick around 10:30pm and she was taken to Bheramara Upazila Health Complex.

Dr. Mizanur Rahman, medical officer of the hospital, said Shamima died before she was brought to the hospital. 

Nur and Nawab also fell sick early Monday.

Nur died on way to hospital while Nawab was admitted to Kushtia General Hospital and he is in critical state.

Confirming the matter to Jago News, Abul Kalam, officer-in-charge of Mirpur Police Station, said they recovered the bodies. The drive in the factory of the herbal medicine is under process.
