Agriculturist Mir Nurul Alam joined as the Director General of Department of Agricultural Extension on Monday.
Prior to this he was working as Director of Plant Quarantine Wing of the same department.
Mir Nurul Alam is a member of the BCS (Agriculture) 1983 batch. He joined the Department of Agricultural Extension as a Subject Matter Officer on January 1, 1985. Later, he successfully performed various important roles in different tiers of the Agricultural Training Institute, National Agriculture Training Academy and the Department of Agricultural Extension.
He articulated course curriculum for the foundation training course for scientists of National Agriculture Research System while he was Director General of National Agriculture Training Academy. He played vital role as Director of Planning, Project Implementation and ICT Wing for enhancing efficiency of the wing as a whole and contributed a lot for several important Project Preparation of Department of Agricultural Extension.
Mir Nurul Alam was born in a noble muslim family at Akurtaqurpara village under Tangail Sadar upazila in 1960. He passed SSC from Bibekananda High School and HSC from Government M M Ali College, Tangail. He completed B.Sc.Ag (Honor’s) in 1982 and Masters in Soil Science in 1983 from Bangladesh Agricultural University. In his service life, he participated in several training, meeting and workshops in Denmark, Thailand, Sweden, China and Malaysia. He has a special interest in providing training. He also has a soft corner for ICT and information technology.
In his career, he was involved in various social welfare activities besides government duty.
