People from all walks of life thronged at the central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka on Wednesday to pay their last tributes to noted lyricist, composer and music director Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul.
Hundreds of people, including politicians, cultural personalities and activists, students and teachers, flocked to the Shaheed Minar and bade farewell to the musician by placing wreathes on his coffin.
The coffin of the Bulbul, who died of a heart stroke at his rented residence at Aftab Nagar in the capital on Tuesday, was brought to the Shaheed Minar at 10:45am.
Later Bulbul was given a guard of honour.
A delegation on behalf of President M Abdul Hamid placed a wreath on his coffin. Former cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor, state minister for cultural affairs KM Khalid Babu, eminent singers Sabina Yasmin, Fahmida Nabi, among others, paid rich tributes to Bulbul.
After that, his body will be taken to Dhaka University mosque where his first namaj-e-janaza will be held after Zohr prayers.
Bulbul will be laid to eternal rest at Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals’ Graveyard after Asr prayers.
