DU appoints five returning officers for DUCSU election

The Dhaka University (DU) authority today appointed five returning officers to help the Chief Returning Officer to conduct the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and Hall union elections, said a DU press release.

On January 17, DU Vice-Chancellor appointed Professor SM Mahfuzur Rahman of International Business department as the Chief Returning Officer to conduct the DUCSU polls under the 8 (e) section of the existing DUCSU constitution.

The five returning officers are– Soil, Water and Environment department Chairperson Professor Dr. Md. Didar-ul-Alam, Mathematics department Professor Dr. Amal Krishna Halder, Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies Institute Director Prof Mahbuba Nasreen, Islamic History and Culture department Prof Dr. Abdul Basir and Computer Science and Engineering department Prof Dr. Mustafizur Rahman.

A 15-member Advisory Council was also formed on Thursday for of the long- awaited DUCSU and hall union elections which have remained dysfunctional for 28 years.
