Renowned journalist and former Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Amanullah Kabir died at a city hospital in the early hours of Wednesday at the age of 73, reports BSS.
Family sources said Amanullah Kabir, also former president and secretary general of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), breathed his last at 1:00am at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). He was undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of BSMMU for kidney failure and liver ailment.
He is survived by wife, three sons and two daughters.
The body will be taken to his village home at Rekhirpara under Melandaha upazila of Jamalpur district after the first namaj-e-janaza at the National Press Club today.
He will be buried at the family graveyard on Thursday.
During his four-decade journalism career, Amanullah Kabir served as executive editor of the Independent, news editor of The Daily Star, editor of Bangla Daily Amar Desh and senior editor of online newspaper bdnews24.com.
