Rejecting the BNP’s claim of arrest, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has said no one is being arrested without any reason.
Responding to a question of a journalist, CEC said this at a briefing at Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital on Saturday.
“All political parties are getting level playing field ahead of 11th parliamentary election,” CEC said.
He said police are following our directions and they are not arresting any people without reason as per law.
Earlier the Election Commission (EC) held a meeting with the executive magistrates at 10am.
Some executive magistrates from different districts including Dhaka, Mymensingh, Cumilla, Narayanganj, Gazipur, Kishoreganj and Sherpur took part at the meeting.
EC will also hold the same meeting on Sunday and Monday.
