The Election Commission has nothing to do over Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) acting chairman Tarique Rahman’s, who is a fugitive living in London now, involvement with the BNP’s nomination process.
The secretary of the Election Commission, Helal Uddin Ahmed, said this after an election commission meeting at the EC office in the capital’s Agargaon on Monday where CEC and four election commissioners were present.
“As Tarique Rahman joined the BNP nomination board through video-conferencing from London, the electoral code of conduct is not applicable for him and the EC has nothing to do with it,” he said.
The Election Commission cleared their stance following Awami League allegations over BNP leader Tarique Rahman's ongoing role.
