Jatiya Oikyafront’s election symbol ‘paddy sheaf’

The Jatiya Oikyafront, an alliance of BNP and some other political parties, has chosen the ‘paddy sheaf’ as its symbol to contest the 11th parliamentary election which is scheduled to be held on December 30.

The decision was taken at a meeting at Dr Kamal Hossain’s Motijheel chamber on Thursday.

Mahmudur Rahman Manna, a leader of the alliance, told journalists after the meeting.

BNP, along with Gono Forum, Jatiya Oikya Prokriya, Nagorik Oikya and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD-Rab) together on October 13 announced a new political platform titled Jatiya Oikyafront led by Dr. Kamal. Kader Siddique and his party Krishak Sramik Janata League joined the Oikya Front later.

The Oikya Front had decided to join the election despite the government’s refusal to meet its seven-point demand.

On November 12, the EC announced new election schedule following the demand of different political parties.

As per the new schedule, the 11th parliamentary election will be held on December 30. The last date for submitting nomination papers is 28 November.
