Bangladesh's attack bowled with purpose on the final morning at the Shere Bangla stadium, picking up two wickets, but Brendan Taylor held firm for Zimbabwe with 54 not out. He added an unbroken 41 for the fifth wicket with Peter Moor to take his team to lunch at 161 for 4, giving Zimbabwe an outside chance of saving the game.
The pitch has held together thus far, and while there is more turn than there has been at any point over the last five days, it's slow and the batsmen have time to react. The two wickets to fall in the session were more the result of consistent bowling and player error than they were any fifth day demons.
Williams fell inside the first hour, set up by Mustafizur Rahman with a succession of deliveries that cut in to him before the left-armer got one to land and leave him. Stuck in the crease and a little squared up, Williams was bowled past the outside edge in the ninth over of the morning.
With relentless pressure from a packed close-in field and some probing bowling, Sikandar Raza never quite settled. He cracked Khaled Ahmed over square leg for a boundary, but then whipped across the line at a full one from Taijul, the ball taking the leading edge and popping back to the bowler, who took a sharp low catch.
Taylor gritted his way through a nervy start early on, but once he got his feet moving he collected runs with a mature authority. He read the length well against both seam and spin, driving, flicking and sweeping to collect four boundaries off Taijul and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Taylor brought up a 95-ball fifty ten minutes before lunch, and at the other end Moor offered him calm support.
With two sessions to go, Zimbabwe will need plenty more from Taylor. Tendai Chatara will not bat, so Zimbabwe are essentially already five down and two more wickets will open up a vulnerable lower order.
