The secretary general of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and also the spokesperson of Oikyafront, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, said the Election Commission (EC) will consider their demands.
“We demanded to hold the upcoming national polls three weeks later and also release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia,” the leader said.
He came up with the remarks following a meeting with Election Commission regarding the ballots on Wednesday.
Kamal Hossain said the election commission has given a commitment to hold the national elections in a free and fair manner. “I hope they'll live up to their commitment.”
A 14-member Oikyafront team led by its chief veteran lawyer Kamal Hossain took part in the meeting while chief election commissioner KM Nurul Huda led the 5-member Election Commission team.
