The secretary general of BNP, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, said the party chief Khaleda Zia suggested them to proceed with unity.
He unfolded this while talking to reporters following a meeting with Khaleda Zia at Old Dhaka Central Jail on Monday.
Khaleda Zia is now in jail in a corruption case. The BNP leader also demanded her release from jail.
Earlier, Fakhrul along with party standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, Jamiruddin Sircar and Mirza Abbas entered the jail around 2:15 pm and met Khaleda.
