Police arrested eight operatives of the banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from the city’s Jatrabari area on Sunday night, reports BSS.
“We arrested eight active members of the JMB along with one pistol and three rounds of bullet from Kazla under Jatrabari Police Station,” said an official of Counter Terrorism (CT) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
The arrestees are: Md Rakibul Hasan alias Ruhul alias Artugul, Md Al Amin, Md Hafiz Bhuiyan, Syed Zakaria, Md Jasim Uddin, Md Mizanur Rahman alias Sumon, Shah Alam alias Saifullah alias Sakib alias Abdus Salam and Milon Hossain alias Tapon.
Of the arrestees, Artugul is the husband of Khadija Parvin Meghna, arrested recently in anti-militant assault at Narsingdi, he also said.
The arrestees were assembled at Kazla as part of their design to select a place for militant attack, he continued.
A case was lodged under Anti-Terrorism Act to this end.
