Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said his party will have no objection if the Election Commission (EC) defers the polls schedule.
“The deferring of the polls schedule will have to be logical. We hope that the EC will take the proper decision considering the time and reality,” he said, speaking at a press conference at AL president’s political office in city’s Dhanmondi in Dhaka, BSS reported.
He said, “We have no objection if the EC defers the polls schedule… But there is the need to take opinions of all political parties.”
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said, “It is the jurisdiction of the EC whether they will defer the polls schedule or not. But the EC has to talk with us on this issue.”
About ODI cricket captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, Quader said, Mashrafe is working in his constituency for a long time. On the other hand, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has advised Shakib not to contest the upcoming 11th parliamentary election and to give full attention to cricket.
She asked Shakib to pay more attention to the matches as the cricket world cup will be held next year, Obaidul Quader said.
