After losing the first test against Zimbabwe, Bangladesh skipper expressed his firm determination to fight back strongly in the second test starting from November 11 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, BSS reported.
Talking to the post match presentation ceremony Mahmudullah today admitted that they didn’t do well with the bat as well as failed to do well in the first innings.
“I think the wicket was good, but we didn’t apply ourselves with the bat. We were not disciplined enough to restrict our strokes. We didn’t read the pitch well and that shouldn’t happen. We will try and comeback strong in the next game,” he said.
The Bangladesh skipper, however, did not forget to praise his bowlers by saying that: “Bowling was excellent”… Taijul was superb but It’s disappointing that he ended up on the losing side.”
He also praised debutant Ariful for getting a lot of runs in domestic cricket today.
Mahmudullah also hoped that his side would put a better performance as a unit in the next test.
On the other hand, Zimbabwe captain Hamilton Masakadza said his boys went out and worked really hard to apply themselves.
He said the first innings lead we got in the first innings was really crucial. I’m proud of the boys. The batters applied themselves well, especially in the first innings. Guys took their time and did well to accumulate runs and that’s something that went missing in the ODIs.
Masakadza said their batters set it up nicely in the first innings and bowlers have been brilliant since they landed in Bangladesh.
The winning Zimbabwe captain said the host, made too much wrong which is really encouraging to see and spinners executed their plans as per accordingly as boys got more spin off the wicket.
