Your appearance should be a source of confidence, not anxiety. With this message at heart, Dove Day was recently observed in schools for the fourth time across Bangladesh.
On this day, Unilever employees conducted self-esteem workshops for young girls in classroom sessions to raise awareness about appearance issues and body-confidence, says a press release.
This year, a total of 103 Unilever employees reached out to 3500 students in 19 schools across Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi and Sylhet.
In the workshop, the participating students were taught about appearance pressures and its sources through audio visuals.
The interactive sessions encouraged girls to share their thoughts and change their behavior by showing positivity about the way they look.
The session ended with the girls writing on the ‘Dove pledge wall’ about one thing that they love about themselves.
Earlier, a research commissioned by Dove, a leading personal care brand of Unilever, uncovered that globally more than 50% of girls don’t like the way they look, which results in serious impact on a girl’s overall confidence, life satisfaction and willingness to engage in life-building activities at school.
Dove aims to change this statistic through Dove Self-esteem project which is designed to help girls build self-esteem by ensuring they feel positive about the way they look.
