Barrister Mainul shown arrested under Digital Security ACT

Jatiya Oikyafront leader Barrister Mainul Hossain has been shown arrested in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Nur on Thursday issued the order after granting a petition seeking to show arrested him in the case filed by Jiaul Islam, Inspector of Gulshan Police Station.

Earlier on October 24, Sumona Akter Lily, a member of the Awami League Sub-Committee for Youth and Sports Affairs, filed the case against Barrister Mainul under the Digital Security Act.

Barrister Mainul was arrested on October 22 from the home of Jatiya Oikyafront leader, ASM Abdur Rab.

On October 23, the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate sent barrister Mainul Hosein to jail after rejecting his bail petition in a defamation case.

On October 16, Mainul made derogatory comments about female journalist Masuda Bhatti on a talk show of private television channel 71, which triggered a social media storm.
