DU publishes students’ database to prepare voter list of DUCSU poll

The Dhaka University (DU) authorities today published the Hall-wise draft list of regular students for preparing the final voter-list for the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and Hall Union Elections.

DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman formally inaugurated the students’ database at Professor Abdul Matin Chowdhury Virtual Classroom adjacent to the VC’s office today, BSS reported.

DU Pro-VC (Academic) Professor Dr Nasreen Ahmad, Pro-VC (Administration) Professor Dr Muhammad Samad, Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani, DU Teachers’ Association president Prof ASM Maksud Kamal, Provosts of the residential halls, among others, were present at the function.

While addressing the programme, VC Akhtaruzzaman said, “We have prepared the database of 38,493 students under 18 halls of the university. Primarily, there are 23,984 male students and 14,509 female students. The final voter list of DUCSU polls will be prepared from the database.”

This draft voter list will be available in the website- ducsu.du.ac.bd. For any correction, students are directed to apply in writing to their respective Hall Provost office by November 30, 2018. A hard copy of the voter list is also available at the Hall offices.

Earlier on September 15, after a meeting with several student organizations DU VC Akhtaruzzaman at a briefing said that the DUCSU polls might be held by March 2019.

In this regard, the VC said, “We are working step by step to hold the DUCSU poll according to the constitutional rules of DUCSU”.

The last DUCSU and hall union polls were held in 1990.
