HC orders to provide first-class division to Mainul

The High Court has directed the authorities concerned to provide first-class division to Jatiya Oikyofront leader Barrister Mainul Hossain.

The bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil passed the order on Monday.

Dr Kamal Hossain and Khondokar Mahbub Hossain stood for Mainul while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam moved against the petition.

Barrister Mainul was arrested on October 22 from the home of Jatiya Oikyo Front leader, ASM Abdur Rab.

On October 23, the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate sent barrister Mainul Hosein to jail after rejecting his bail petition in a defamation case.

On October 16, Mainul made derogatory comments about female journalist Masuda Bhatti on a talk show of private television channel 71, which triggered a social media storm.
