JaPa to give candidates in 300 seats: Ersahd

Jatiya Party (JaPa) Chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad has said his party will give candidates in 300 seats in the upcoming national polls and it will be his last election.

Ershad, also special envoy to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, on Saturday said this at a grand rally organized by JaPa led-alliance at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital.

Expressing doubt over the upcoming national polls, he said we don’t know that whether the national election will be held or not. A party has placed 7-point proposal which can’t be realized as per directions of the constitution. At this circumstances, there is doubt over the days to come.

We want the assurance of a free, fair election. Congenial atmosphere to hold credible poll must be ensured, he added.

Ershad announced an 18-point election manifesto at the rally, asking the leaders and activists of his party to get ready to take part in the upcoming national polls.

“We will soon form parliamentary board as per our campaign for national polls. We would nominate candidates based on eligibility, not considering any posters or banners,” he said.

Jatiya Party’s senior co-chairman Begum Rowshan Ershad recalled the contribution of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, saying, “He (Bangabandhu) liberated the country and Jatiya Party is working to reach the benefit of liberation to the people.”
