Tournament favorite Tajikistan moved into the final of fifth edition of prestigious Bangabandhu International Gold Cup Football tournament beating Philippines by 2-0 goals in the first semi-final held on Tuesday at Bir Shrestha Shahid Ruhul Amin Stadium in Cox’s Bazar, reports BSS.
Tajikistan will now play the final against winners’ of second semi- finalists Bangladesh or Palestine scheduled to be held on Friday (October 12) at country’s premier venue Bangabandhu National Stadium at 6.30 pm.
In the day’s match, Komron Tursunov opened an account for Tajikistan scoring the first goal in the 31st minute while Axtam Nazarov sealed the victory scoring the second goal for Tajikistan in the 90+7th minute of the match.
Tajikistan booked the place of final as worthwhile team dominated the entire proceeding and notched their deserving victory. While Philippines were off colored and they hardly failed to produce any real scoring chance in the match.
Earlier, Tajikistan got off to a winning start in the tournament beating defending champions Nepal by 2-0 goals but to lost Palestine also by the same identical margin of 2-0 to finish group A runners-up.
On the other hand, Philippines defeated Laos by 3-1 goals in their group B opening match and beat host Bangladesh by 1-0 goal in their group second match to emerge group top.
