Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif today said BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia can get rid of her allegations by seeking mercy to the President after accepting crimes, BSS reported.
“There are two ways of her redemption. She can go through legal procedures or seek clemency to the President after accepting her crimes,” Hanif told newsmen after the inaugural function of a pure drinking water project at Kushtia Government Women’s College here.
“If the President pardons her she can be released. Otherwise there is no chance of her release,” he added.
He said people, who want to wage a movement regarding Khaleda’s release, they do not want to take part in the upcoming election, rather they want to create anarchy across the country with their illogical demands.
“There are some irresponsible and opportunist leaders who become active when polls come. They begin conspiracy against the elections with some unconstitutional and illogical demands,” Hanif said.
They (BNP) want to bring an unconstitutional government by creating an unstable situation in the country, he added.
Chairman of District Council Haji Rabiul Islam, Principal of Kushtia Government Women’s College Prof Md Shafiqur Rahman Khan, General Secretary of District AL Ajgar Ali, Joint General Secretary Engineer Faruq Hossain and City AL President Taijal Ali Khan, among others, were present on the occasion.
