2 bodies recovered from Ctg ‘militant den’

The members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) have recovered scattered body parts of two persons from a house at Sonapahar village under Mirsarai upazila suspecting it a militant hideout.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. But, Rab suspects they were operatives of banned outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).

They recovered a AK-22 rifle, five pistols and five grenades from the spot.

House owner and caretaker of the den also were arrested for interrogation.

RAB-7 Camp Company Captain Squadron Leader Shafayet Jamil Fahim confirmed the mater to Jago News.

Earlier, acting on a tip-off, several units of Rab-7 cordoned off the house around 1 am on Friday. Sensing the presence of the elite force members, the suspected militants opened fire on them, forcing the law enforcers to fire back.

The exchange of fire continued till 4 am. At one stage, the “extremists” exploded two bombs when the Rab members asked them to surrender.

Locals said they heard the sound of explosions twice around 4 am. The tin-roofed house has partially been damaged after the explosion.
