DMP takes foolproof security measures for Durga Puja

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken tight security measures in and around of all the 230 puja mandaps in the capital for peaceful celebration of Durga Puja, reports BSS.

The largest religious festival of the Hindu community will be held from October 15 to 19.

“All possible security measures, including intelligence vigilance, have been taken in and around all the 230 puja mandaps in the city for peaceful celebration of Durga Puja,” said DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah said while speaking at a coordination meeting on security arrangement at DMP headquarters here today.

There is no specific security threat ahead of the Durga Puja, he said, adding that all the puja mandaps have been brought under the CCTV surveillance.

“None would be allowed entering the mandaps without search for making the security arrangement foolproof.”

The DMP chief urged all to remain alert against any rumour in social media.

“Tough action will be taken against the people who will be involved in spreading rumours,” he warned.

He asked all the puja celebration committees to take every necessary measure to ease sufferings of people.

Senior officials of police were present at the meeting.
